So most people, especially this generation, don't get very much exposure to rock and sort of just listen to whatever is trending. Most of the iconic rock/metal songs were made in the early 2000s and 90s, which is about when gen z was born lol. They don't have to like it but to me it seems their musical appreciation is shallow if they can't at least acknowledge the talent and artistry in it. Don't get me wrong, I recognise the importance of lyrics and singing in music and if a metal song I like has great lyrics then I'll love those lyrics and the song all the more.
